Setagaya line is 5.0km tramway without on-street running. Setagaya line was branch line of former Tamagawa line tramway on Tamagawa street. Tamagawa line was replaced to underground heavy rail, Shin-Tamagawa line(now remaed to "Den-en-toshi line").
Before 2001, tram-style cars were operated in Setagaya line with low platforms. Since 2001, all trains are operated by high floor LRV, and platforms were high-floored. All old cars were withdrawn.
Around the stations of Setagaya line is built-up area. Transport density is highest(about 25000 passenger-kilometers per kilometers) in Japanese trams.
