Hankai Electric Tramway is interurban tram from Osaka city to Sakai city. About half of network is not on-street running section. A characteristic point of rollong stock is size of cars and rated output of motor. These are rather large than tramcar in another Japanese cities.
This tramway attract the interest of many railway enthusiast. Because Hankai Electric Tramway has the very old "MO161" stock. MO161 was made from 1928 to 1931. As of 2012, this is the oldest electric railcar for regular service in Japan.
Unfortunatery, income of Hankai Electric Tramway is not enough. Abandonment plan of southern part was discussed in 2000s. However, from 2010, local region start the supporting program for tram. Abandoment plan was cancelled.
Type MO161 Ebisucho -> Abikomichi
Type MO161 is traditional tram. "MO" means "electric MOtor car". This is Hankai Electric Tramway's speciality. At the time of recording, some railway enthusiasts was taking in MO161 and taking the picture of MO161.
