Fukui Railway is 21.4km interurban railway with 3.3km on-street running section on Fukui downtown. There is double track section in Fukui downtown. Other section and short on-street branch line to Fukui-ekimae(Fukui staion) are single track.
Before 2006, all fleets are conventional rail style cars with folding steps. At 2006, all platform were low-floored. Both ex-Gifu tram-style cars and some conventional rail style cars are used since 2006. There cars will be replaced in 2016 by F1000-series low-floor LRV.
Since 2016, Through service to Echizen railway was inaugurated by low-floor LRV. Number of passengers increased by beginning of this service.
Frequency of trains is 3 or 4 trains/hour, including 1 or 2 express trains on daytime. In morning and evening peak hours, frequency is 4-6 trains/hour, and half of trains are express service.
Type200 Echizen-Takefu -> Fukui station (Express train)
Type200 is heavy-rail-style articulated car with folding steps. This was made in 1960, 1962. Propulsion system was changed to second-hand equipments from JR. Trains from Echizen-Takefu to Fukui staion switches back at Shiyakusho-mae station.

F1000-series Washizuka-Haribara -> Echizen-Takefu (Express train)
F1000-series is Bremen type low-floor LRV with incentro bodies and Japanese-buit electric equipments. Service from Washizuka-Haribara to Echizen-Takefu is through service from Echizen railway to Fukui railway.
